Rachel AO (Rachel Atiemo-Obeng) is a singer-songwriter, and actress based in Los Angeles, California. Her music blends piano-driven pop with soulful undertones. You can find her music on all streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and more.

A Michigan born adoptee and Ghanaian citizen, Rachel grew up immersed in the arts, studying classical voice, piano, theatre, and dance from an early age. A lifelong performer, she first stepped on stage at just four years old. As a child/teenager she recieved awards for both two and three-dimensional visual art forms, including recognition for a brass sculpture using the lost-wax method. Her visual artistry continues today, with her original artwork and photography featured on her album covers.

By thirteen, she was touring Europe as part of the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp International Choir. She also attended Interlochen Fine Arts Camp. Her passion for songwriting deepened in college when she was selected for the Contemporary Music Center on Martha’s Vineyard, an invitation-only artist residency.

Rachel’s performance roots run deep. She has taken on leading roles in musical theatre, including Joanne Jefferson in RENT (2015) and Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar (2016). Since relocating to Los Angeles, she has graced the stages of renowned venues such as The Mint, The North End Hollywood, Los Globos, Bar Lubitsch, State Social House, Hotel Cafe, and Molly Malone’s.

Alongside her work in music and acting, Rachel holds a Master’s degree in Education with a focus on Applied Behavior Analysis, Curriculum, and Instruction. She has worked with children with special needs for over 14 years, using her expertise to promote inclusion, creativity, and empowerment through the arts.

Rachel has a long history of humanitarian work. She grew up participating in mission trips and community outreach, volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, and worked hands-on with AMOS Health and Hope in Nicaragua to help construct a health clinic in a rural mountain village.

For Rachel, songwriting and performing is an art form that bridges storytelling and emotional connection. Her music invites listeners on a journey. Each lyric, melody, and note crafted to stir the heart and soul. Through acting she thrives to embody each character, honoring their stories, truth, and emotional depth.
